Need Some Spring Outing Ideas?

There are so many fresh ideas we can help you put together for your spring outing. Here are a few to inspire you:

New England Aquarium

One of Boston's top attractions, the New England Aquarium has more than 1.3 million visitors a year and is a major public education resource for the region. Visit Myrtle the sea turtle, see the giant ocean tank with over 2,000 animals, check out the antics of the California sea lion pups or experience the shark and ray touch tank up close and personal. Spring hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and weekends from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Museum of Fine Arts, Boston

One of the country's oldest art museums (opened in 1876), the MFA is home to  nearly half a million works of art. Check out the new galleries and special exhibits to get your art fix. Enjoy an artistic dining experience at one of four eateries within the museum.

Fenway Park

Major League Baseball season starts in April, and what better way to kick spring into full gear than catching a Red Sox game at historic Fenway Park. Enjoy early spring games and cheer the Sox on at the oldest ballpark (since 1912) in the MLB. Sox out of town on your free weekend? No worries. You can still schedule a tour of this park for your group. Top off your outing at one of Boston's many restaurants and share some baseball memories.

Boston Public Garden

Many don't know that the Public Garden was the first public botanical garden in the US. Established in 1837 adjacent to Boston Common, it forms the northern terminus of the Emerald Necklace, a long string of parks designed by Frederick Law Olmsted. Enjoy the swan boats and ever-changing flower plantings. The Public Garden also includes several statues and structures, from the most notable Equestrian Statue of George Washington to the whimsical Make Way for Ducklings located between the pond and the Charles and Beacon streets entrance.

Boston Theatre District

Boston's main theater scene with venues peppered throughout Tremont and Boylston Streets offers a range of everything from Broadway shows to repertory-company productions. Did you know that it serves as a staging area for shows on their way to Broadway? You can plan a wonderful day that begins with an outing with your group, an early dinner followed by a theater production, symphony or play.

The Freedom Trail

Explore history along the 2.5-mile brick-lined route that leads through 16 historically significant sites. The self-guided or guided walking tour takes you through museums, meetinghouses, churches and burying grounds. Learn more about the people who shaped our nation and the rich history of the American Revolution, which began in Boston. Finish your tour at a North End eatery or plan more historic stops to complete your group's day or overnighter with shopping, sightseeing, casino trips or other activities. There's so much you can do in New England!

Kittery, Maine / Wrentham Outlets

Get your shop on with a visit to the best bargain center in New England. Just over the border, this outlet center boasts bargain after bargain of name brands. Add to your shopping an overnight at one of the charming Maine inns and spend a day visiting other area attractions such as the Red Door Pottery Studio or the Nubble Lighthouse. Get out of the city and take in our northern neighboring towns this spring.

Minute Man National Historical Park

Every April, you can take a group to celebrate Patriot's Day (the anniversary of the Revolutionary War battles of Lexington and Concord) at the Minute Man National Historic Park. Catch a reenactment of a truly historic battle at the locations where it all happened. Afterward, take your group to enjoy other historic parks in and around Lexington and Concord or enjoy a pub crawl or dinner fare at nearby eateries.

Plimouth Patuxet Museums

Step back in time in Plymouth, MA. See first-hand a 17th-Century English Village, the Mayflower II, Plimoth Grist Mill and the Wampanoag Homesite. Founded in 1947, this living history museum exhibits the original Plymouth Colony settlement. Experience live recreations and period-dressed characters that bring the past to life. Don't forget to check out Plymouth Rock, the traditional disembarkation site of William Bradford and the Mayflower Pilgrims who arrived in 1620.
